THE BIG DAY OUT [1994]

(Gold Coast Parklands: January 21, 1994)

This is when I discovered what was happening in my own backyard. Despite the mega lineup, it was a chance hearing of the mighty Dreamkillers on 4ZZZ that convinced me to grab my mates Jason and Todd and head down the coast.

Beers were $3 and they let you buy a six-pack, It had rained the night before and it didn't take long for the front of the main stages to turn to deep mud (despite the saw dust that had been laid down). Todd can attest to the depth you could sink.

Highlights (a few of many more): Dreamkillers, moshing hard, blood and high dives under the big top; Budd; Hard-Ons; Tumbleweed; Soundgarden; Ramones.

Lowlights: Missed The Meanies, The Breeders and Björk.

Line Up:

METALLICA w/ KYUSS [NOWHERE ELSE TO ROAM TOUR]

(Brisbane Entertainment Centre: March 29, 1993)

My second concert and little did I know how brilliant Kyuss would be (as well as my only time to see them live). What a killer double header. I have to admit to being a bit out of it during Kyuss's set, but my head was back on straight by the time Metallica kicked off.

This youtube video is from a bootleg of the concert that I haven't managed to track down yet.

AC/DC [RAZOR'S EDGE TOUR]

(Brisbane Entertainment Centre: March 29, 1991)

Starting at the beginning, this was the first concert I ever went too. I went with David Church and Scott Joel (and maybe someone else). Not the best seats, but one hell of a night. A few rows in front of us was a rasta, and a guy in drag. We weren't underneath the Angus money drop-zone, but a guy was handing them out in the car park after the show. AC/DC were, as expected, on fire.

Here are some live recordings from youtube (note that these are audio only).

What's It All About?

Hi.

This blog is all about gigs and the bands/artists that I have seen while living in Brisbane and elsewhere. I will be posting reviews, memorabilia and live tracks and videos (that I have or find). I would appreciate any input or memories from anyone else who was there.

Thanks.

Chris CC
